Maintenance of Emergency & Exit Lights - record keeping

in

A log book, or an alternative system approved by the responsible authority (i.e. building surveyor), is required for the recording of maintenance information. Logbooks must be kept on site and must be available for inspection and audit by a representative of the responsible authority. The responsible authority can impose fines and other penalties if this is not done.

The change over of faulty or installation of new Exit & Emergency Light fittings should only be carried out only by a qualified electrician.

Changes or modifications to an emergency or exit lighting system may require the issuing of a Certificate of Electrical Safety (for non prescribed electrical installation work) when the work is completed.
