FP-001-02 Smoke Detector Sensitivity Verification

From the Australian Standards (AS1851) FP-001-02 sub-committee room, smoke detector sensitivity verification is proposed to be the replacement for the current 'go/no-go' test of smoke detectors. These changes are proposed to replace the current requirement in AS1851:2005 in table 6.4.2 Item 2.31.

The proposed changes consider the requirements of various detector types including; collective, collective auto-recalibrating with CIE indication, collective auto-recalibrating without CIE indication and analogue addressable.

Sensitivity testing also provides for a significant reduction in the current testing frequency from 50% go/no-go per annum to 20% sensitivity verification per annum.

Note: The verification shall be carried out such that over a five year period the sensitivity of all detectors have been verified.

It is proposed that these amendments be published in July 2007.
