Total fire ban restrictions

The Country Fire Authority (CFA), provide general advice on a day of total fire ban.

Fire Restrictions can be applied across most areas of Victoria by CFA, when fire danger is high. Typically this is over the summer period of November through to April. Restrictions are applied in small areas at a time.

Victoria - MFB False Alarm Codes

A false alarm occurs when the Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB) attends an incident to find there is no emergency and there is no need for their firefighting skills or other expertise.

False alarms are categorised according to 28 distinct false alarm codes. Information attributed to each 'false alarm code' is used by the MFB to collect statistical information and to place false alarms into a particular category for assessment purposes.

A warm end to the year
There is a strong shift in the odds towards above normal daytime temperatures for the December quarter (October-December) over Victoria, the Bureau of Meteorology announced today.

The pattern of seasonal maximum temperature odds across Victoria is mainly due to higher than normal temperatures in the Indian Ocean.
