NetSuite Roles and Permissions
A NetSuite role is a set of permissions that lets customers, vendors and employees access specific areas of your data. You assign roles on customer, vendor, partner and employee records.
NetSuite provides many standard roles with predefined permissions. Each role grants access at a certain level for each permission. User access levels are defined as follows:
- NONE - User cannot access files related to the permission.
- VIEW - User has access to view existing files only. The user cannot create new, edit existing, or delete existing files.
- CREATE - User can create new and view existing files. The user cannot edit or delete existing files.
- EDIT - User has access to create new, view existing and edit existing files. The user cannot delete existing files.
- FULL - User has access to create new files and view, edit, and delete existing files.
How roles and permission s are used by Maintenance Essentials
There have been various Roles and Permission used by NetSuite when you log in such as (ME Technician, ME Sales/Technician, etc) and some of you have multiple accesses. After a review we has decided to reduce the number of roles in order to simplify the available selections make them more consistent.
As a result the following changes will occur in the next week:-
- Generally each user will have access to 2 Roles;
- Your default login Role will be a aligned with your role at Maintenance Essentials
- The second role will be the "ME Employee Centre". The Employee Centre can be selected via the 'Change Role' link at the top of your screen.
- Amongst other things the "ME Employee Centre" is to be used by all for generating Purchase Requests. Purchase requests generated here are approved or routed according to authority limits for each user. This will improve the peer review process, and provide a check that any vendor volume discounts are fully applied and terms and conditions and included. It is anticipated that as the company grows, that purchasing assistance will be coordinated by a procurement specialist.
